2027: Tinubu’s Re-election Drive Gains Momentum as Councillors Forum, City Boys Movement Forge Nationwide Alliance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid has gained fresh grassroots backing following a strategic political alliance between the National Councillors Forum of Nigeria and the City Boys Movement.

The partnership was unveiled at the weekend during an event in the South-East, where the President of the Forum, Rt. Hon. Evoh Okechukwu Nwikegwu, declared that councillors nationwide are prepared to mobilise massive voter support for the President.

Nwikegwu revealed that Nigeria’s 8,809 councillors would leverage their grassroots influence across the country’s 176,836 polling units to secure what he described as a decisive victory for Tinubu in the next general election.

According to the Forum President, the alliance with the City Boys Movement, led by Seyi Tinubu, represents a powerful political force capable of influencing voter mobilisation across Nigeria.

“As the closest representatives to the people at the grassroots, councillors remain the vanguards of development and democratic participation,” he said.

He added that the combined reach of councillors and youth mobilisation groups would create a nationwide political movement with strong grassroots appeal.

“The figures are staggering. This is a movement poised to sweep across the nation. Any agenda aimed at undermining it will only amount to a futile attempt to obstruct progress,” Nwikegwu stated.

Councillors Praise Tinubu’s Reforms
Nwikegwu also commended the administration of President Tinubu, describing its policies as transformative and impactful for the country.

He particularly highlighted the restoration of financial and administrative autonomy for local governments as a major milestone for governance at the grassroots.

According to him, the reform has strengthened the third tier of government by restoring greater control over resources and enabling councils to pursue development-driven initiatives.

He further pointed to the government’s efforts in stabilising the economy, expanding social intervention programmes for vulnerable Nigerians, and revitalising agriculture and rural economies.

The councillors’ leader also praised Seyi Tinubu’s leadership of the City Boys Movement, describing it as visionary and inspirational for young Nigerians seeking greater involvement in national development.

He noted that the movement is gaining traction in the South-East, suggesting the development could influence political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The South-East is abuzz with excitement to welcome the movement.

We are ready to ride the tide of progress,” he said.

Nwikegwu called on Nigerians to set aside political differences and support ongoing reforms aimed at building a peaceful, prosperous and progressive nation.
