Chief Ogunbayo, Wife Honoured as Basorun, Yeye Basorun of Isara-Remo in Grand Double Chieftaincy Ceremony

It was a memorable celebration last Wednesday as the Ogunbayo and Oyedein families of Itun-Abe, Isara-Remo, Ogun State, hosted a lavish chieftaincy conferment ceremony in honour of Chief Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo and his wife, Mrs. Eunice Abimbola Ogunbayo.

The duo were honoured as the Basorun and Yeye Basorun of Isara-Remo by His Royal Highness, Oba Albert Adebose Mayungbe, Erinsiba III, the Odemo of Isara-Remo, at a traditional ceremony held at the Odemo Palace at exactly 8:30 a.m.

Shortly after, Chief Peter Ogunbayo was also decorated with the prestigious title of Babalaje of Remo Land by the paramount ruler of Remo Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, the Akarigbo of Remo Land.

This second conferment was held at the Akarigbo Palace at 11 a.m., marking a rare double honour in a single day.

The high-profile event attracted top personalities, including the senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, alongside many distinguished sons and daughters of Remo Land.

Following the traditional ceremonies, a grand reception was held at the upscale Nuga Planet Event Centre in Sagamu, where guests celebrated the new chiefs with music, fine dining, and joyous dancing.

Speaking after the ceremonies, Chief Peter Ogunbayo said, “It’s a great honour to be recognised by our people. We remain committed to the progress of Remo Land.”

The colourful celebration further cemented the Ogunbayo family’s status as respected figures in Remo society.
