Former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s lingering internal crisis.
Aduda, who served as Senate Minority Leader in the 9th National Assembly, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward.
In the letter titled “Notice of Resignation of My Membership from the PDP,” the former lawmaker said his exit takes immediate effect.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” he stated.
Despite his departure, Aduda expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities it gave him to serve in various elective positions.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation. Please accept the assurances of my high esteem,” he added.
His resignation adds to growing concerns over internal divisions within the PDP as political realignments intensify ahead of future elections.
Meanwhile, there are strong indications that Aduda may soon defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), further fueling the wave of high-profile political movements across the country.
