AGN Appoints Tega Dominic as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment in Nollywood

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken a decisive step toward addressing sexual harassment in the film industry with the appointment of reality TV star and actress Tega Dominic as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment.

Dominic, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, was named to the newly created role under the office of the national president-elect of the Guild. She confirmed her appointment on Thursday after sharing her official letter of appointment on Instagram and formally accepting the position.

A portion of the letter read: “This is to gladly inform you of your appointment as Special Adviser (SA) on Sexual Harassment to the National President-Elect, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).”

According to AGN, the establishment of the advisory office is part of broader efforts to strengthen internal safeguards, promote ethical conduct, and ensure safer working environments across Nollywood.

The Guild explained that the office will be responsible for developing and implementing anti-harassment policies, advocating for ethical workplace standards, and creating clear mechanisms for reporting, investigating, and resolving sexual harassment complaints within the Guild.

AGN described the role as critical to promoting professionalism and accountability, noting that Dominic’s appointment followed a thorough evaluation of her experience and capacity.

“Your role is critical in fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and professional integrity,” the letter stated, adding that the appointment recognises her “proven professional competence, sound judgment, and extensive experience.”

The Guild also emphasised that the appointment is subject to strict adherence to its constitution, warning that it could be terminated in cases of insubordination, indiscipline, or conduct contrary to AGN regulations.

Reacting to the announcement, Dominic expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, describing the role as both a call to service and a serious commitment to industry reform.

“Honoured and deeply grateful to accept my appointment as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment to the President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN),” she wrote.

She pledged to champion zero tolerance for sexual harassment, ensure confidential reporting systems, and support survivors.

“Together, we will build an industry where talent thrives without fear, and dignity is never compromised,” Dominic added.
