Africa Magic, organisers of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), have officially opened the call for entries for the 12th edition of the continental film and television awards.

Submission of entries began on Sunday, January 11, and will run until Sunday, February 15, 2026, with filmmakers and content creators across Africa encouraged to submit their work for consideration.

The AMVCA remains MultiChoice’s flagship initiative, designed to recognise, celebrate and reward outstanding African storytelling across film and television. Over the years, the awards have grown into the continent’s most respected platform for showcasing creative excellence.

The 12th edition is set to spotlight the continued growth, innovation and global influence of Africa’s entertainment industry, further reinforcing the AMVCA’s reputation as Africa’s most prestigious awards ceremony.

Building on its legacy of honouring both established and emerging talents, the 2026 edition introduces notable enhancements aimed at deepening its pan-African reach. Chief among them is the expansion of the Indigenous Language categories with the introduction of Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa.

The upcoming AMVCAs will feature a total of 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided categories, 11 audience-voted categories, two Lifetime Achievement awards, and one Trailblazer award.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026.
