Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has confirmed plans to relocate from the United Kingdom to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant shift in both his personal life and business operations.

The 36-year-old boxer, who was born in Watford, England to Nigerian parents, rose to global prominence after representing Great Britain and winning a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

According to reports, Joshua’s decision to move was revealed in official documentation filed for his business interests, where he was required to declare his country of residence as part of administrative filings tied to his £150 million business empire.

The paperwork reportedly shows that the boxer confirmed his residential status in Dubai last week, formalising his relocation from the UK.

Joshua’s move comes as the UAE remains under heightened regional tension following recent military developments involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Reports indicate that missile and drone attacks linked to the conflict have targeted parts of the region in recent weeks.

Despite the security concerns, Dubai continues to attract wealthy individuals and global celebrities due to its luxury lifestyle, modern infrastructure, and tax advantages. The emirate does not impose personal income tax, making it a preferred destination for high-net-worth residents.

Financial records linked to Joshua’s business operations also highlight the scale of his ventures. His promotional company, Sparta Promotions, reportedly generated profits of over £20 million in 2024 and paid approximately £6.65 million in taxes in the UK.

Joshua also received dividend payments of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023, earnings that would ordinarily attract taxation under the UK system.

The move to Dubai is expected to play a strategic role in the management of the boxer’s growing global business interests while allowing him to benefit from the emirate’s favourable financial environment.
