APC Rallies Behind Tinubu for 2027 as Zonal Congresses Deliver Unity, Re-elect Party Leaders

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a major step toward consolidating its 2027 electoral ambitions, with zonal congresses held across the six geopolitical regions ending largely without incident and reinforcing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a strong political signal, the North-Central zone formally adopted Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for 2027, while other regions echoed unity and pledged to deliver overwhelming votes for the ruling party.

North-Central Backs Tinubu
At the Lafia congress in Nasarawa State, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, led stakeholders in endorsing the President. The motion, seconded by Governor Abdullahi Sule, received unanimous backing from party leaders.

Akume described the region as the “glue” of the nation and expressed confidence in its electoral strength, projecting that it would deliver the highest votes in 2027. He, however, cautioned party members against complacency, urging intensified grassroots mobilisation.

South-West Re-elects Kekemeke
In Lagos, the South-West APC re-elected Isaacs Kekemeke as zonal chairman through consensus at a congress attended by over 3,000 delegates.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described the exercise as peaceful and credible, stressing that the region remains united and strategically positioned to deliver victory for Tinubu.

Kekemeke assured of improved performance, pledging that the South-West would secure a landslide win for the President while targeting electoral victories in Ekiti and Osun states.

South-East Reaffirms Cohesion
In Enugu, the South-East zone re-elected Ijeoma Arodiogbu alongside other executives via consensus.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, said the process reflected the collective will of party members.

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, described the development as evidence of the APC’s growing influence in the region, commending party leaders for strengthening its structure ahead of future elections.

Similarly, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the consensus approach demonstrated internal cohesion.

South-South Targets Top Vote Delivery
In Asaba, Delta State, the South-South APC re-elected Victor Giadom and other zonal officers through consensus.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, commended the region’s growing unity and challenged members to emerge as the highest vote-delivering zone for the APC in 2027.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described the congress as a demonstration of party strength and urged sustained grassroots mobilisation.

North-East Adopts Consensus
The North-East chapter also embraced a consensus model during its congress in Gombe State, with key stakeholders in attendance.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, said the exercise aligned with the party’s constitutional guidelines and underscored its commitment to internal democracy and unity.

Across the zones, the APC’s congresses reflected a coordinated effort to close ranks, strengthen internal structures, and position the party for a strong showing in the 2027 general elections, with President Tinubu at the centre of its strategy.
