United Bank for Africa (UBA) has issued an apology to customers after a prolonged disruption to its mobile banking application left many users unable to access their accounts since Sunday.
The outage has prevented affected customers from logging into the app and carrying out routine transactions such as transfers and bill payments. Complaints quickly spread across social media, particularly on X, as frustrated users reported repeated failed login attempts.
In a message sent to customers around 1:51 pm on Tuesday, UBA acknowledged the technical problem and advised clients to use alternative banking channels while engineers work to restore full service.
“You may be unable to log in to your UBA Mobile App. Kindly transact with our other channels as we work to resolve this quickly. Apologies for the inconvenience,” the bank stated.
Many customers have already turned to Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), USSD codes and physical branch visits to complete their transactions. The latest disruption has also reignited concerns about reliability, with some users noting that the mobile app has suffered similar outages several times in the past two months.
For customers who depend heavily on the app for everyday banking, the recurring downtime has caused significant inconvenience. UBA says it is actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal access as quickly as possible.
