Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tega Dominic, has issued a stark warning to aspiring contestants, revealing the emotional toll the reality show took on her mental health.
In a candid reflection, the reality TV star disclosed that her struggles began after leaving the show, with anxiety gradually intensifying into social anxiety. According to her, the condition became so severe that attending public events alone became nearly impossible.
Dominic explained that the high-pressure environment of reality television can be overwhelming, stressing that only individuals with strong mental resilience should consider participating.
She further revealed that her experience has affected her ability to engage in physical interactions, noting a surprising emotional barrier when it comes to receiving affection.
“I won’t tell anybody close to me to go for Big Brother. If you’re not mentally strong, don’t go for Big Brother. After Big Brother, I used to have anxiety. It became worse. I had social anxiety, I can’t go to spaces if I’m alone. I can give you hugs, but I can’t receive hugs,” she said.
Her revelation adds to ongoing conversations about the psychological impact of reality TV fame, highlighting the need for better mental health support for participants both during and after such shows.
