Dapo Abiodun Unveils Tech-Driven Security Plan to Keep Ogun Safe from Terrorists and Kidnappers

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has announced plans to deploy technology-driven security solutions as part of efforts to protect residents from the growing wave of insecurity across Nigeria.

The governor made the disclosure during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Strategic Meeting held at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he reaffirmed his administration’s determination to prevent criminal elements from gaining a foothold in the state.

Expressing concern over the increasing cases of terrorism, banditry and kidnapping nationwide, Abiodun said his government is taking proactive measures to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

“We are rising to the occasion of insecurity by deploying technology to safeguard the lives of our people. We will not wait for anyone to come and attack us,” the governor declared.

He stressed that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property through strategic investments in security infrastructure, close collaboration with security agencies and active community engagement.

According to him, Ogun State will continue to maintain its reputation as a peaceful and investment-friendly destination through sustained security interventions.

Abiodun also revealed that special attention is being given to the security of schools and educational institutions, describing children as the future of the state that must be adequately protected.

He said the government has intensified surveillance around schools, deployed security personnel to strategic locations, strengthened inter-agency cooperation and introduced modern technology to monitor vulnerable areas.

The measures, he noted, are aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring that schools remain safe and conducive environments for learning.

Beyond security, the governor disclosed that his administration would now place greater emphasis on human capital development and social intervention programmes to cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges on residents.

He reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare of the people and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every segment of society.

Abiodun also commended members of the APC in Ogun State for conducting peaceful and crisis-free primary elections, describing the exercise as a demonstration of political maturity, unity and discipline.

“Our primary was inclusive, transparent and fair. We sat down, discussed and chose our candidates without rancour. Though many contested, only one person could emerge. Those who stepped down for others are the unsung heroes of this process,” he said.

Earlier, Ogun APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, praised party members for their exemplary conduct during and after the primaries, adding that the strategic meeting was convened to strengthen preparations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
