Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon, popularly known as DeyemiTheActor, ignited online conversations on February 17, 2026, after weighing in on a viral tweet involving singer Simi (Simisola Kosoko).

The controversy stemmed from a resurfaced screenshot of a previous post by Simi in which she wrote: “I don’t know, a 16yrs old is this good. I can’t feel my legs.”

Reacting to the backlash that followed the post, Deyemi offered a different perspective.

“Anyone who is not a pervert’s first thought might be to think some kid was heard singing and she fell in love with his song/vocals. What is your reasonable reaction sir?” he wrote.

Deyemi’s intervention quickly went viral, drawing both praise and criticism from social media users. While some applauded the actor for encouraging a measured and innocent interpretation, others maintained their reservations about the wording of the original post.

Observers noted that Deyemi’s response underscored the need for context and restraint in online discourse, particularly when interpreting celebrity statements.

The debate also attracted commentary from online personality Daniel Regha, who had earlier criticised Simi over the issue.

The exchange once again highlights the intense scrutiny faced by public figures on social media, where posts  past or present  can rapidly resurface and spark widespread reactions.

As discussions continue, Deyemi’s remarks reflect the growing role of celebrity voices in shaping narratives and steering online conversations toward what some describe as a more balanced outlook.
