Edo Assembly Speaker Steps Down as Lawmakers Move to Impeach Him

 

Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has resigned from his position amid reports that lawmakers were planning to impeach him.

Agbebaku’s resignation was confirmed by his media aide, Ivy Ebojele.

Ebojele disclosed that the former Speaker had stepped down but said further details surrounding the development would be made public later.

The resignation comes against the backdrop of an alleged move by some lawmakers to remove Agbebaku from office.

The Edo State House of Assembly is expected to provide further clarification on the development.
