Ekiti Has Never Had It This Good, Oyebanji Deserves Second Term – Adetifa

Canada-based businessman and community leader, Mayegun Ademola Adetifa, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of Biodun Oyebanji, describing the governor as a visionary leader whose policies and projects are transforming Ekiti State and positioning it for long-term economic growth.

Speaking during an interview, Adetifa dismissed suggestions that his support for the governor was subtle, insisting that his endorsement was open and unequivocal.

According to him, Oyebanji has demonstrated a deep understanding of the state’s developmental needs by sustaining legacy projects inherited from previous administrations while initiating new programmes that directly impact residents.

He cited the continued development of the Ekiti Cargo Airport, the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road project and the governor’s commitment to prompt salary payments as evidence of effective governance.

“Governor Oyebanji has shown the value of continuity in governance. His administration has ensured that workers receive their salaries promptly, creating positive economic effects across different sectors of the state,” Adetifa said.

The community leader also commended the governor for fostering political harmony in the state, noting that the era of intense political rivalry that once characterised Ekiti politics has significantly diminished.

He attributed the development to Oyebanji’s humility and inclusive leadership style, which he said has brought together political stakeholders across party lines.

Oyebanji Has Earned Another Term

Adetifa maintained that the governor’s achievements have made him a strong contender for re-election, stressing that public support for Oyebanji is rooted in performance rather than sentiment.

He argued that the administration has ushered in a new phase of growth, inclusion and sustainable development across the state.

While applauding the governor and the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, for their contributions to the development of Aramoko-Ekiti, Adetifa appealed for increased attention to the town because of its strategic importance to the state’s economy.

Community Development Remains My Priority

Addressing questions about his philanthropic activities, Adetifa ruled out any immediate political ambition, saying his passion remains community development and youth empowerment.

He explained that his commitment to Aramoko-Ekiti stems from his traditional role as Mayegun of the town and his desire to build on the developmental legacy left by his predecessor, the late Isaac Fola Alade.

The businessman highlighted several interventions undertaken through the Mayegun Ademola Foundation, including scholarship programmes, sponsorship of JAMB registrations, educational competitions, transformer installation and road rehabilitation projects.

According to him, the foundation’s activities have extended beyond Aramoko-Ekiti to other communities within and outside Ekiti State.

Citizen-Led Governance Key to Development

Adetifa also advocated citizen participation in governance, describing it as an effective way to strengthen transparency, accountability and responsiveness in government.

He said community leaders and citizens must complement government efforts by actively contributing to local development initiatives.

The businessman credited the progress recorded in Aramoko-Ekiti to strong collaboration among community stakeholders and political leaders.

Economy Holds the Key to Reversing Japa Trend

On the increasing migration of Nigerians abroad, popularly known as the “Japa” phenomenon, Adetifa said economic improvement and enhanced security remain the only sustainable solutions.

“Once the economy improves and security is guaranteed, many people will be willing to stay and even return home,” he stated.

He also expressed confidence in the economic direction of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying ongoing reforms could provide a framework for long-term national development.
