Afro-pop star and outspoken social justice advocate Ayokanmi Eyanro, popularly known as Frequencie, has applauded the developmental achievements of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, describing them as “unprecedented and remarkable.”
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, Frequencie said Wike has fully justified his appointment by President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration. The artist specifically praised the minister for delivering improved road networks, street lighting, and modern motor parks that are elevating the status of Nigeria’s capital.
“You would be forced to like the current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for tackling the infrastructural deficit in the Central Business District and remote parts of the city. Everywhere you go in Abuja you will see ongoing projects. We are happy with what Wike is doing,” Frequencie stated.
Known for consistently using his music and public engagement to push for good governance and human rights, Frequencie also called on the minister to address flooding challenges, particularly in the NNPCL area and other vulnerable locations.
He identified blocked waterways, illegal refuse dumping, and weak enforcement by the FCT Administration as key human factors aggravating flood risks in the city. “We appeal to the Minister of FCT to be firm in tackling flood. Climate change is real, but the Minister should prevent people from blocking waterways, channels and others,” he said, urging decisive preventive measures to safeguard lives and property.
Frequencie further appealed to Abuja residents to dump refuse only at designated points and stop the harmful practice of discarding waste into canals and drainages, stressing that such behaviour has no place in the nation’s capital.
