Nollywood actress Tope Osoba was laid to rest on Thursday in her hometown of Iperu Remo, Ogun State, weeks after her death was announced.
The burial service took place at Akesan Club in Iperu Remo after her remains were released from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu. She was later interred at the Iperu Remo Cemetery.
Family, friends and colleagues, all dressed in white, gathered to pay their final respects to the actress, who was widely known for her roles in Yoruba-language films.
Osoba’s death was announced on August 5, months after she underwent surgery for breast cancer. The family had initially scheduled the burial for August 13, following a candlelight procession and an artistes’ tribute night on August 11. The ceremony was later postponed to allow for further arrangements and the resolution of outstanding matters.
Prominent Nollywood figures in attendance included Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod and Joke Jigan.
Following the announcement of her passing, colleagues paid tribute to Osoba, describing her as a dedicated and passionate contributor to the Nigerian film industry.
