“Five Surgeries, One Miracle Baby”: Toyosi Adesanya Opens Up on Agonising Path to Motherhood

Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya has shared a deeply personal account of her long and painful struggle to become a mother, disclosing that she underwent multiple surgeries in her desperate bid to conceive.

Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Adesanya revealed that 2022 was particularly gruelling. “In 2022, I did five surgeries. I did so many surgeries my doctor told me, ‘Enough of this,’” she said. Despite the physical and emotional toll, the actress eventually welcomed a baby girl with her husband in March.

Throughout her trying journey, Adesanya described fellow actress Iyabo Ojo as a steadfast pillar of support. She recalled how Ojo intervened during a previous marriage crisis, travelling all the way to Akure to confront her then-husband and those making her life difficult.

Defending her unwavering loyalty to Ojo, Adesanya stated: “Iyabo who stood by me when I was trying to conceive, Iyabo who came to Akure to fight for me in my previous marriage. On the 14th of February 2014, on Valentine’s Day, Iyabo called my ex-husband. He called the people who were making my life difficult in Akure. She asked if they wanted to kill me. So why wouldn’t I do my responsibility when her grandson is celebrating his birthday? I am not one of the people bloggers would use their sad story to feed.”

Adesanya’s candid revelations highlight both the private battles many women face on the path to motherhood and the enduring bonds of genuine friendship in the often turbulent world of entertainment.
