Time walks behind the man that treads slowly, like a submissive ox – doing his bidding and obliging him his heartfelt dreams. This incontestable reality further substantiates François Rabelais, late French humanist and satirist’s postulation which emphasises thus: “He that has patience and humility may compass anything.” Rabelais simply avers that the best things come to those who are humble. Think Dr. Mike Adenuga, the Chairman of Globacom.
By his heartfelt deeds, Dr. Mike Ishola Adenuga, fondly called, The Champion, cuts the perfect picture of an unusual patriot. This is because the Globacom boss and native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, imbibed the culture of altruism from an early age; the culture holds that, it is every man’s duty to do all that lay in his power to leave his country and his state better than he had found it. Little wonder Adenuga applies his wealth and intellect, among other resources, to progressive ventures in Ogun state.
Despite his passion for improving his homeland better than he found it, Adenuga unlike most rich, influential men of his billionaire class, is neither given to frivolities or wanton revelry. He hardly attends parties and when he does, the billionaire chairman of Globacom prefers making a cameo appearance.
However, Adenuga went out of his way to make merry last Monday and participate in the festivity that marked the 40th anniversary of his homeland, Ogun state.
He was there with some top politicians and businessmen. An illustrious son of the soil, Adenuga’s presence added colour and class to the high octane event that had in attendance, President Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and two-time governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu, among other dignitaries. As Ogun state clocked 40, Adenuga supported the anniversary financially thus affirming the fact that he does not joke with anything that has to do with Ogun state.
Not a few people were shocked but happy to see him at the event. Unlike many of his peers, Adenuga’s rise to prominence was as much a result of hard work and his enviable ability to apply himself to his dreams with total humility and trust in his own abilities.
The way Adenuga greeted President Buhari in the presence of everyone was really heart-warming. He bent down to greet the number one citizen of Nigeria with all humility like a lightning shaft from Eden, to command the applause of everyone. Guests were never tired of purring odes about him. He made new friends that day and converted new disciples.
responsible for several wrong allegations fashioned against him by mischief makers.
