Nigerian Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, has revealed the personal reason behind his reduced activity in the music scene this year.
Responding to a fan on X on Friday, the “Buga” hitmaker clarified that his break was not tied to work on a new album, as some had speculated.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that the singer’s quieter period was due to studio sessions for fresh material. Kizz Daniel quickly set the record straight, writing:
“I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”
The candid admission sheds light on the emotional toll the loss has taken on the popular artist. Fans and followers have since taken to social media to offer their support and condolences.
This is not the first family tragedy the singer has spoken about publicly. In 2025, Kizz Daniel disclosed that his wife had also lost her mother the previous year.
Despite the personal challenges, the singer’s message struck a note of resilience as he pledged to keep pushing forward for the sake of his remaining family members.
