The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Israel, has praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her active role in strengthening the ruling party through grassroots mobilisation, women empowerment and youth engagement ahead of the 2027 general election.
Israel, who also convenes the Mummy’s Men Movement, said while political campaigns often focus on candidates and rallies, individuals working behind the scenes also play critical roles in shaping electoral success.
According to him, Senator Tinubu has gone beyond her position as the President’s wife by using her political experience and public platform to support initiatives aimed at empowering women, youths and vulnerable communities across the country.
He noted that the First Lady has remained actively involved in public engagements despite criticism, describing her visibility as a demonstration of commitment to public service.
Israel highlighted several of her recent interventions, including the donation of vehicles to APC women leaders in Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo States to improve grassroots political mobilisation, particularly in states where the party is not in power.
He also referenced the donation of nine buses to the APC National Youth Wing, saying the vehicles would improve the capacity of youth leaders to organise programmes and engage communities nationwide.
Beyond partisan activities, Israel pointed to the launch of the Inclusive Network for Supporting Progressive Leadership, Innovation, Reform and Equity (INSPIRE), an initiative designed to promote women’s leadership and professional advancement within the Federal Civil Service.
He said the Mummy’s Men Movement was established to encourage supporters of the First Lady to move beyond admiration and actively participate in community development and political engagement.
According to Israel, Senator Tinubu’s political journey predates her emergence as First Lady, citing her years in the Senate and longstanding involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He added that her decision to maintain an active public role distinguishes her from some political spouses who adopt more reserved approaches, while positioning her as a key figure in strengthening the APC’s grassroots structures.
Israel maintained that although the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be decided by Nigerians, sustained engagement with women, youths and local communities remains essential to the party’s preparations.
He said Senator Tinubu’s activities reflect a commitment to building stronger political structures and inspiring greater civic participation ahead of the next general election.
