‘I Left for the Shrine’ – Seun Kuti Debunks Wedding Walkout Drama

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has dismissed reports claiming he stormed out of the traditional wedding of popular Nigerian TikTok personalities Jarvis and Peller over comments allegedly made by one of the event’s Masters of Ceremony (MCs).

The speculation followed a viral video showing Seun leaving the chandelier-lit wedding venue with two associates, prompting claims that he was upset after an MC reportedly compared music star Wizkid to his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

Reacting in a video alongside Fuji singer Malaika, Seun clarified that he simply left the event to attend activities at the Shrine and insisted bloggers misrepresented the situation.

According to him, there was no dramatic walkout, adding that his departure was wrongly interpreted as anger.

“I left the wedding to go to the Shrine, and these bloggers twisted things, saying I was angry. Maybe I should have danced out of the ceremony,” Seun said.

Meanwhile, comedian and actor Gbadamosi Jonathan, popularly known as MC Edo Pikin, has also addressed the controversy, defending the event’s MCs.

In a video shared online, Edo Pikin denied claims that any of the hosts compared Wizkid with Fela Kuti, describing the allegation as false.

He explained that the MCs were instead praising Seun Kuti during the event and urged the Afrobeat singer to exercise patience and verify information before reacting.
