Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has revealed that he once borrowed money to maintain a lavish lifestyle in a bid to impress people, describing it as a phase he has since outgrown.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the MENtality Podcast, the actor reflected on his past obsession with luxury items and the pressure to constantly project success.
Timini disclosed that he previously spent heavily on expensive perfumes, building a collection of about 150 bottles, but later realised the money could have been invested more wisely.
According to him, he now understands that genuine happiness is more important than owning the latest luxury watches, cars or designer items simply to meet societal expectations.
The actor noted that while there is nothing wrong with enjoying luxury, people should honestly examine whether they are making such purchases for themselves or because of peer pressure.
Timini also shared that he has experienced difficult financial periods but has learned to remain content regardless of his circumstances.
He said maintaining a positive mindset during challenging times has helped him avoid living a false life for public validation.
Reflecting on his transformation, the actor admitted that he once borrowed money to sustain a fake image but has since abandoned that lifestyle, choosing authenticity over appearances.
