INEC Fails to Hold Election in Oshodi On Sunday

Contrary to public expectation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday failed to hold the rescheduled election in some parts of Oshodi in Lagos, where elections did not hold on Saturday.

When SocietyGists visited the area about 4.00pm, INEC officials did not show up to conduct the rescheduled election in 28 polling units in Oshodi with residents waiting endlessly for them to come, vowing that they must cast their votes.

At Polling Units 054 and 055 on Salami Street, for instance, voters complained that INEC officials did not show up for the process, though police officers were waiting at the polling stations for INEC officials since morning.

At 056, Akiodu Street, INEC officials were still being expected as at past 3.00pm with frustration written in the faces of residents who were eager to cast their votes. The same goes to Polling Unit 060 on Abdulrasak Street where the officials have not shown up few minutes to 4.00 p.m.

Also, the officials had not arrived at Agbalaya Street, Ishola Daniel, Lawanson and some other areas in Oshodi for the rescheduled election at the time our reporter visited the area.
