Irele Tower Rises in Lagos Free Zone, Boosts Office Space and Sustainable Growth in Lekki Corridor

A new commercial landmark, Irele Tower, has been unveiled at the Lagos Free Trade Zone, expanding office capacity as the Lekki corridor continues to attract local and international investment.

The nine-storey development delivers approximately 12,000 square metres of office and retail space, positioning the zone to meet growing demand from businesses seeking proximity to key port, logistics, and industrial infrastructure.

Built with sustainability at its core, the tower is an EDGE-certified structure by the International Finance Corporation.

It is designed to reduce operational costs and environmental impact, using about 26 per cent less energy and 46 per cent less water compared to conventional buildings, while also enhancing indoor environmental quality for occupants.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the project as a reflection of Lagos State’s infrastructure-driven growth agenda and its commitment to strengthening its position as a prime investment destination. He noted that the Lagos Free Trade Zone remains central to industrialisation, job creation, and economic diversification efforts.

Managing Director of Lagos Free Zone Company, Adesuwa Ladoja, said the development aligns with the zone’s vision of creating an integrated business ecosystem built on strong infrastructure, strategic location, and efficient logistics. She added that investor interest in the Lekki axis has driven increased demand for high-quality and efficient workspaces.

Also commenting, Managing Director and CEO of First City Monument Bank, Yemisi Edun, said the bank’s early support for the project underscores its confidence in the long-term potential of the zone. She highlighted Irele Tower as a model of coordinated financing and development, adding that the bank remains committed to supporting future growth, particularly following its recapitalisation.

With the addition of Irele Tower, the Lagos Free Trade Zone continues to strengthen its position as a hub connecting industry, trade, and services, while advancing the adoption of sustainable building standards across the rapidly developing Lekki corridor.
