Iyabo Ojo Drops Cryptic Message Amid Nollywood Drama: “2026 Is for Doers”

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo has stirred reactions online after sharing a cryptic message on social media amid ongoing controversies rocking the Nigerian film industry.
On Friday, the outspoken movie star posted an image of a billboard with the inscription, “Jealousy is the last class to attend before becoming a witch,” accompanied by a caption that appeared to brush off critics and detractors.
In the post, Ojo wrote:
“Who made the rules? Nobody you gotta answer to. 2026 ain’t for talkers — it’s for doers. Do what works for YOU. Let others win their way. You win yours. Period.”
Although she did not reference any individual or specific incident, the post has been widely interpreted as a subtle response to the recent wave of drama within Nollywood, signalling her determination to remain focused on personal goals rather than engage in online disputes.
Iyabo Ojo, known for her bold personality and candid opinions, has previously been involved in several high-profile disagreements with colleagues, often using social media as her preferred platform for expression.
Her latest post comes at a time when the Nigerian film industry has been gripped by debates over creativity, promotion and online visibility.
Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan recently sparked controversy after criticising what he described as the growing pressure on filmmakers to dance, create skits and maintain constant social media presence to promote their projects.
In response, actress and producer Funke Akindele encouraged creatives to embrace innovation rather than criticism.
“If you can’t beat them or join them, create your own path. No allow jealousy burn you. The sky is so big for everybody to fly,” Akindele said.
Veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde also weighed in, stating that while she has no objection to dancing during movie promotions for fun, she would not participate if it becomes forced or obligatory.
As the conversation continues, Iyabo Ojo’s post appears to reinforce a growing sentiment within Nollywood—focus on growth, ignore distractions and carve out individual paths to success.
