Jandor Responds to Sanwo-Olu’s Endorsement, Insists on Fair APC Primaries for 2027 Lagos Governorship

Governorship aspirant Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran has reaffirmed his commitment to internal democracy within the All Progressives Congress (APC), following recent political developments in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on April 27, Jandor responded to the public endorsement of Obafemi Hamzat by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, describing the move as a constitutional right of the governor. However, he emphasized that such endorsement does not override the party’s established process for selecting candidates.

Jandor noted that the APC has yet to deviate from its earlier position that candidates for the 2027 general elections will emerge through direct primaries. According to him, all aspirants—including himself—are expected to demonstrate their popularity through a transparent and credible grassroots process.

Reiterating his determination to remain in the race, the former Lagos governorship candidate disclosed that he has intensified consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across the state. He maintained that his ambition is driven by democratic ideals and a firm belief in fair competition.

Addressing concerns about possible internal rifts, Jandor dismissed any suggestion of division within the party. He clarified that differing endorsements and political preferences are a reflection of healthy democratic engagement rather than conflict.

As political alignments begin to take shape ahead of 2027, he called on APC members to remain united and trust the party’s internal mechanisms. Jandor concluded by pledging continued engagement with party faithful and a commitment to service-oriented leadership for the people of Lagos State.
