Kaduna APC Sets 2 Million Vote Target for 2027 as Isaac Atiku Sankay Emerges Chairman

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set an ambitious target of delivering no fewer than two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, following the emergence of Hon. Isaac Atiku Sankay as its new chairman.

The charge was handed down on Tuesday by Governor Uba Sani and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, at the party’s State Congress held at Murtala Muhammed Square.

Sankay, born in 1983 and currently serving as Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to the governor, emerged as consensus chairman after weeks of consultations across the 23 local government areas of the state.

Party stakeholders, elders and influential blocs resolved to present a united front ahead of the next electoral cycle, culminating in his affirmation at the congress.

In his address to delegates, Governor Sani described the congress as a defining milestone in the evolution of the APC in Kaduna, noting that the adoption of consensus reflected political maturity and internal cohesion rather than weakness.

The governor disclosed that 6,885 ward executives were elected across the state’s 255 wards, alongside 621 local government executives. At the state level, 36 executive members were affirmed and sworn in.

He said the figures underscored the APC’s entrenched presence across communities and reaffirmed the state chapter’s commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Our structures will be mobilised from the polling units upward,” Sani assured, stressing alignment with national objectives and a focus on governance and development.

Speaker Abbas urged the newly inaugurated executives to immediately consolidate party unity and work toward securing over two million votes for President Tinubu and a similar tally for Governor Sani in 2027.

He commended the outgoing leadership for victories recorded in 2015 and 2023, expressing confidence that the 2027 target was achievable through discipline and focus.

In his acceptance speech, Sankay thanked party leaders for the confidence reposed in him, pledging disciplined leadership and measurable results.

Drawing from his peacebuilding experience, he highlighted collaborations with security agencies, traditional rulers, faith leaders and civil society groups to foster dialogue and stability in Kaduna’s diverse communities.

He promised to strengthen internal democracy, intensify grassroots mobilisation, create structured platforms for youth and women participation, and deepen party cohesion.

Outgoing Chairman Bows Out
In his farewell remarks, former State Chairman Emmanuel Jekada expressed gratitude for the support he received during his eight-year tenure, saying he was leaving behind a stronger and more united APC in Kaduna State.
