Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has set an ambitious target for the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), urging the group to mobilise 150 million supporters nationwide in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Kalu made the call while receiving a delegation of the support group from Edo, Ekiti, and Katsina states, reaffirming the group’s commitment to promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
The Deputy Speaker, who founded the initiative, said the movement is designed to showcase the achievements of the Tinubu administration, deepen democratic engagement, and secure Nigeria’s future.
He charged members to aggressively spread the President’s agenda at the grassroots level, emphasising the need for presence in markets, religious centres, campuses, motor parks, and other public spaces.
“This initiative speaks to the future of Nigeria. Whatever we do today is to make us a better nation in the years to come,” Kalu said.
He outlined plans to establish campus chapters in all Nigerian universities and ensure the group’s visibility in all local government areas, noting that the aim is to make the Renewed Hope Agenda a dominant topic wherever Nigerians gather.
According to him, the responsibility of members is to simplify and communicate the President’s policies in relatable terms, enabling citizens to understand and embrace the vision behind the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Our ambition is to raise 150 million supporters online. As ambitious as that sounds, registrations are ongoing and the numbers are already very encouraging,” he added.
Kalu also noted that the group’s mandate extends beyond the 2027 elections, including advocacy for key legislative reforms such as reserved seats for women, independent candidacy, local government autonomy, and the establishment of state police.
Describing members as “change agents” and “defenders of democracy,” he stressed that the platform remains open to partnerships with individuals and organisations aligned with the President’s vision.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the group, Mathias Ehizua, briefed the Deputy Speaker on progress made within two months of its establishment, particularly highlighting its online membership registration drive.
He said the Renewed Hope Partners distinguishes itself as the only support group with a structured online database for members.
In separate remarks, officials from Ekiti, Katsina, and Edo states reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the group’s reach across polling units, wards, and local government areas.
Edo State Coordinator, Armstrong Adedigba, disclosed that 11,800 members have already been registered in the state within two months, adding that civil society organisations and religious groups are also indicating interest in joining the initiative.
