Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has reportedly been killed by his captors.
The teachers and several students were kidnapped after heavily armed gunmen stormed the school on Friday, May 15, abducting the principal alongside other staff members and students.
The tragic incident comes weeks after a failed kidnapping attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road, which reportedly claimed the life of a traveler, further deepening concerns over worsening insecurity in parts of Oyo State and across Nigeria.
Fresh tension erupted on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after a disturbing video allegedly released by the kidnappers surfaced online. The footage reportedly showed Oyedokun being beheaded by the gunmen.
The shocking development has sparked outrage and fear among residents, families of the victims, and members of the community, with many calling on security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue operations to secure the safe release of those still held captive.
Community leaders and concerned residents warned that urgent action is needed to prevent further loss of lives.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have yet to officially confirm the killing.
