Kwara Governor Mourns Slain Forest Guard, Announces N10m Support for Family

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a forest guard, Omotosho Samuel, during a confrontation with suspected kidnappers in Koro community, Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor described the slain operative as a hero who paid the ultimate price in the fight against banditry.

Samuel was reportedly killed on February 8 when armed bandits ambushed operatives in Koro community.

N10m Support for Family
AbdulRazaq announced a N10 million support package for the family of the deceased as a mark of appreciation for his bravery and sacrifice.

“He is our hero, and we ask God to grant comfort to his family,” the governor said.

He commiserated with the family of the fallen guard and praised his colleagues and local vigilantes who engaged the fleeing kidnappers during the encounter.

Fight Against Banditry
The governor commended the courage and patriotism displayed by forest guards and vigilante members working to secure communities across the state.

The Koro attack has renewed concerns about security in parts of Kwara, even as the state government continues efforts to curb criminal activities and strengthen local security networks.

The incident underscores the growing risks faced by local security operatives confronting kidnappers and bandits in rural communities.
