Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on the Muslim Ummah to uphold the values of humility, kindness, and forgiveness cultivated during Ramadan, urging them not to abandon the teachings of the Holy Quran after the fasting period.

The governor’s message was delivered on Friday by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, who led a delegation of Muslim clerics and political office holders on a traditional Sallah homage to the governor’s residence.

Speaking shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers held at the Eid Ground in Agodi, Ibadan, Makinde congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr.

The delegation was received by the Wife of the Governor, Tamunominini Makinde, who stood in for the governor during the visit.

Makinde commended Muslims for their unwavering support, patriotism, and prayers for the state, noting that the prevailing peace and stability in Oyo State have significantly driven development and fostered harmonious coexistence among residents.

He also expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their continued backing of his administration, stating that such support has enabled the government to record notable achievements. The governor urged residents to remain steadfast in their commitment to his administration through the remainder of its tenure.

Special prayers were subsequently offered for the governor, the success of his administration, and the continued progress of both the state and the nation.

Notable figures in the delegation included former Deputy Governor and PDP National Secretary, Taofeek Arapaja; House of Representatives member, Stanley Olajide; and Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde, alongside commissioners, board chairmen, and other top government officials.
