For Mariam Timmer, being selected for the inaugural edition of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa was more than just another reality TV appearance — it was a historic moment.

The Real Housewives of Lagos star described her participation in the pan-African franchise as a powerful milestone, likening it to the pride she felt when she was chosen as part of RHOLagos’ original cast. According to Timmer, the experience reaffirmed her belief that she is helping to open doors for Nigeria and other African countries on the global reality TV stage.

“Being part of the very first RHUGT: Africa is an incredible honour,” she said. “My name will always be part of the conversation when it comes to groundbreaking reality TV moments in Africa, and that’s something I’m deeply proud of.”

An OG housewife who has appeared in all seasons of The Real Housewives of Lagos, Timmer believes the Ultimate Girls Trip will reveal a side of her viewers may not have fully appreciated before.

“This show makes it impossible to overlook my evolution,” she explained. “I’ve grown personally, emotionally and professionally. I’m not the same woman people met in Season 1. I show up with intention, clarity and control. I don’t just join the show — I set the tone.”

On the trip, Timmer formed immediate bonds with Annie Mthembu from The Real Housewives of Durban and Princess Jecoco from Abuja, describing their connection as natural and refreshing. She also hinted that not all relationships came easily, teasing viewers to watch how the dynamics unfold on screen.

Beyond the drama, Timmer said the experience fostered genuine sisterhood, with friendships extending beyond filming into real-life support and vulnerability. “That, to me, is what sisterhood really looks like,” she said.

Known for her expressive and unapologetic personality, Timmer admitted she made no effort to tone herself down for the continental stage. “I don’t manage people’s perceptions of me. I show up as myself — always,” she said, noting that while some cast members were initially cautious around her, they soon realised she was easygoing and authentic.

Reacting to Annie Mthembu’s comment that she and Christall Kay brought the most drama this season, Timmer laughed it off. “Drama is part of the show, and I definitely brought my energy,” she said. “But I also bring heart, fun and authenticity. That’s what makes my presence unforgettable.”

Proudly Nigerian, Timmer said every day on the trip reminded her of the honour of representing Lagos and Nigeria. One of her standout moments was introducing fellow housewives to Yoruba culture, an experience she described as deeply fulfilling.

Fashion also played a central role in her RHUGT: Africa journey. Staying true to her brand, Timmer wore exclusively Nigerian designers throughout the show, using every outfit as a statement of pride and creativity.

“I wanted my fashion to speak loudly about where I come from,” she said. “Every look was intentional, and every moment was an opportunity to showcase Nigerian talent.”

As audiences prepare for the explosive season, Timmer promises viewers the full experience. “Expect bold fashion, bold energy and bold moments,” she said. “You won’t be able to take your eyes off me.”
