Media mogul Mo Abudu has warned Nigerians against an AI-generated video circulating online that falsely claims she launched a scheme promising people more than ₦700,000 daily.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the founder of EbonyLife Group revealed that the viral clip had been digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence to imitate both her voice and appearance.

According to Abudu, the fraudulent video originated from a Facebook account identified as “Naija Capital Growth.”

She firmly denied soliciting money from the public and stressed that she would never request funds in such a manner.

“It’s important that I address a fake video currently circulating online from a Facebook account called ‘Naija Capital Growth.’ Please note that my voice and the message in the video has been altered,” she said.

“I have not asked anyone for money, and I would never ask for money in this way or manner. This video is completely fake and misleading.”

To counter the misinformation, Abudu shared the original, unedited footage that was manipulated by fraudsters.

She explained that the authentic video was taken from an interview she participated in during the Forbes 30/50 Summitheld in Abu Dhabi on March 23, 2023.

During the session, Abudu spoke with Maggie McGrath about African storytelling, media representation, and international collaborations in the entertainment industry.

“For clarity, the original video being manipulated with AI was an interview I did with Maggie McGrath, Editor of Forbes Women, during my trip to Abu Dhabi as a speaker at the Forbes 30/50 Summit on the 23rd of March, 2023,” she explained.

Abudu also urged members of the public not to send money in connection with the fake investment claims and appealed for widespread awareness to prevent others from falling victim to the scam.

“Please do not send or part with any money in relation to this fake video. I kindly ask that you help me circulate this message as widely as possible to prevent others from being scammed or misled,” she added.
