‘My Godmother Advised Me’ – Angela Okorie Explains Decision to Burn Burial Attire

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about why she decided to burn the outfit she wore to the burial of actor Alex Ekubo.

Alex Ekubo was laid to rest on June 18 in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry.

Following the burial, Okorie took to her Instagram Story to explain the reason behind her decision to destroy the outfit she wore to the event.

According to the actress, the action was based on advice she received from her godmother, who told her that clothes worn to burial ceremonies should not be kept after the event.

Sharing a photo of the outfit, Okorie said she felt compelled to pass the information on to her family, friends, and followers, urging them to take note of the tradition.

She wrote: “This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My godmother said it is not good to have cloth you wore to a burial around you. You burn them. So family and friends, take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep us and bless us with long life.”

Her revelation has since generated conversations on social media, with many users sharing differing opinions on cultural beliefs and traditions surrounding burial rites.
