The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation into allegations of child molestation and abuse at a daycare facility in Lagos.

The move follows renewed social media controversy surrounding resurfaced posts allegedly linked to popular singer Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi.

In a statement released on Friday, NAPTIP’s Director-General, Binta Adamu Bello, directed agency operatives to begin a full-scale inquiry into the matter. She reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to child protection, describing it as a top priority.

According to the statement, the investigation was prompted by a suggestive online post attributed to a well-known Nigerian singer, which reignited public concern.

While acknowledging the growing outrage among Nigerians, NAPTIP assured the public that its official communication channels remain open to receive complaints from anyone who may have experienced abuse or has relevant information regarding the daycare in question.

“Anyone with useful information is urged to come forward and report through our official channels. Child protection remains our priority,” the agency stated.

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny, as the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has also referred the case to the Commissioner of Police for preliminary investigation.

The controversy gained momentum after screenshots of tweets from 2012 and 2013, purportedly authored by Simi, resurfaced online, sparking widespread debate.

However, the singer has publicly addressed the claims, insisting that the old posts were taken out of context and bear no connection to any form of misconduct.

As investigations continue, authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring accountability and safeguarding children across the state.
