Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has called on his old club to make a move for Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.
Butt believes the Nigerian striker, currently plying his trade at Galatasaray, possesses the qualities needed to strengthen United’s attack and complement Benjamin Sesko.
Speaking in an interview cited by the Mirror UK, Butt expressed concerns that Sesko may struggle to lead the line alone, insisting the Red Devils require another proven No. 9.
“I don’t think Sesko can carry the club up front on his own; they will need another No. 9,” Butt said.
While clarifying that Sesko does not necessarily need replacing, Butt stressed the importance of bringing in a forward who can elevate the young striker’s performance.
“I don’t think he needs replacing, but someone better than him who can lift his game as well,” he added.
The former England international also dismissed concerns about Osimhen’s lack of experience in the Premier League, pointing instead to his physical attributes and playing style.
“I know Osimhen isn’t proven in the Premier League, but you look at his physicality and the way he plays football, he can definitely handle it,” Butt noted.
Highlighting the striker’s strengths, Butt described Osimhen as a complete forward capable of making an instant impact.
“He is powerful, quick, he can run in behind, he’s strong, he can score different types of goals, he’s good in the air,” he said.
Butt concluded by suggesting that players from the Turkish league could be attainable targets, reinforcing his belief that Osimhen would be an ideal signing for United.
