Nigerian creative and recording artiste Orisha has released two new singles, “Jabulani” and “Boogie,” through his independent record label and creative collective, Fingas Family.

The two tracks explore attraction, beauty, desire and chemistry, combining playful lyrics, melody and rhythm while showcasing Orisha’s genre-fluid approach to music.

‘Jabulani’: A Celebration of Attraction

“Jabulani” is a warm and flirtatious song centred on the excitement of being captivated by someone.

Rather than taking a sentimental approach to desire, Orisha infuses the track with humour and lightness, capturing the rush and unpredictability of attraction without taking itself too seriously.

The title, associated with joy and celebration in Southern Africa, mirrors the song’s upbeat emotional character.

‘Boogie’: Where Movement Meets Chemistry

On “Boogie,” Orisha shifts the focus to movement, chemistry and sensual energy.

Built around a groove-driven sound, the track explores the space between romance and lust, creating a distinctly nocturnal mood filled with dancing, stolen glances and unspoken attraction.

Together, “Jabulani” and “Boogie” examine two dimensions of the same emotional experience: the excitement of attraction and the intensity of desire.

The ‘Orishirishi Vibes’ Philosophy

Orisha describes his musical identity as “orishirishi vibes,” drawing from the Nigerian expression orishirishi, which refers to a mixture of different things.

The phrase captures his refusal to be restricted to a single genre or musical formula. His records are shaped by the emotion or idea he seeks to express, allowing him to move between rap, melody, experimentation and diverse musical influences.

From Church Choir to Creative Collective

Orisha began his musical journey in a church choir before releasing music in the early 2000s under different names.

He subsequently became a member of Town Kryyaz, an early 21st-century Nigerian gospel hip-hop and rap group pioneered by Sane MC, who performed as Izaya, alongside Galaktikal and OG.

Beyond music, Orisha works across strategy, branding, culture and community building. He sees music as one of several creative tools for expressing ideas, documenting experiences and exploring human emotion.
