Osun Guber Poll: Traders Back Oyebamiji, Secure Pledge of Grants and Market Development

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 15, 2026, Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to introduce regular grants and interest-free loans for traders, artisans and small business owners if elected governor.

Oyebamiji made the promise during an endorsement rally organised by market men and women at the popular Igbonna Market in Osogbo, where thousands of traders declared their support for his candidacy and vowed to mobilise votes for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.

The traders described Oyebamiji as a competent leader capable of driving economic growth, improving the welfare of residents and creating a more business-friendly environment across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Babaloja General of Osun State, Chief David Iyiola, represented by the Otun Babaloja of Igbonna Market, Chief Muideen Ajao, alongside the market secretary, Mrs. Okunoye Temitope, said their endorsement was based on Oyebamiji’s record of service in both the public and private sectors.

They expressed confidence in his ability to transform the state’s economy and improve the fortunes of market operators.

According to the traders, market men and women across Osun have resolved to campaign vigorously for the APC candidate and ensure his victory at the August 15 governorship poll.

“Our vote is our right and our power, and we have resolved to cast it for Oyebamiji. We believe in his competence, capacity and vision to bring the desired transformation to Osun State and improve the welfare of market women and traders,” the traders stated.

Responding to the endorsement, Oyebamiji described the gathering as a clear indication of growing public support for his governorship ambition.

He appreciated the traders for their confidence in his candidacy and assured them that his administration would prioritise the economic empowerment of market operators through targeted financial interventions.

According to him, his government would establish regular grant programmes and interest-free loan schemes to strengthen small and medium-scale businesses across the state.

“We are going to support our market men and women through regular grants and interest-free loans. Our administration will formulate policies that will give traders and business owners unrestricted access to financial support that will help expand their businesses,” he said.

The APC candidate also promised to modernise markets across Osun by providing essential infrastructure, improving security and creating an enabling environment for commerce and investment.

Oyebamiji further pledged to extend similar support to artisans and other small business operators while ensuring adequate security to protect lives, property and commercial activities throughout the state.

He expressed optimism that the growing endorsements from traders and other stakeholders would translate into victory for the APC in the August 15 governorship election.

“We will deliberately develop our markets by providing the infrastructure and amenities required to boost trade and commerce. We will also ensure adequate security in our markets and provide financial assistance to traders when elected governor,” Oyebamiji assured.
