Oyebanji Re-Elected as Ekiti Governor, Sweeps All 16 LGAs in Landslide Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election, securing a resounding victory across the state.

Announcing the results, INEC stated that Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The PDP candidate garnered 40,543 votes, while the ADC candidate secured 12,872 votes.

The APC candidate recorded an unprecedented sweep of all 16 local government areas in the state, underscoring his widespread support among voters. His strongest performances came from Ado-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ikole and Ijero local government areas.

In Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, Oyebanji secured 38,026 votes. He also polled 29,278 votes in Irepodun/Ifelodun, 28,258 votes in Ekiti West, 26,508 votes in Ikole and 25,506 votes in Ijero.

Despite the APC’s statewide dominance, the PDP recorded its best performance in Ikere Local Government Area, where it garnered 9,892 votes against the APC’s 11,116 votes.

INEC disclosed that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election. Total valid votes cast stood at 375,777, while 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of votes cast to 382,109.

With the declaration, Oyebanji secures a second term in office as governor of Ekiti State, extending the APC’s hold on power in the state.
