Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a stern ultimatum to contractors in the state, warning that his administration will not hesitate to revoke contracts that fail to meet government specifications and deadlines.
The Ultimatum at Ekhenwa
The Governor’s warning was specifically directed at Place of Peace Investment Ltd, the firm handling the 1.4-kilometre Charismatic (Church) Road project at Ekhenwa. During a high-level inspection tour across the Edo South Senatorial District on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Okpebholo expressed dissatisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the site.

“We were at Church Road, Upper Ekenwan Road and we were not too happy with the contractor there,” the Governor stated. “We have made our observations known… by the time we return next time and nothing has happened the way we want it, we can revoke the contract.”
A Tale of Two Standards
While the Ekhenwa project faced heat, the Governor was quick to praise other firms showing commitment to excellence. He lauded the contractors handling the Ogheghe Road and Sapele Road projects for their professionalism and high-quality delivery.

Racing Against the Rain
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the government is under pressure to complete vital infrastructure before the 2026 rainy season begins. He vowed that monitoring teams would be on-site even during weekends to ensure taxpayers get value for their money.
