Afrobeat superstar Davido has weighed in on the escalating political tension between All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, has publicly rejected Wike’s Rainbow Coalition — a cross-party platform aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Uzodimma made it clear that APC governors will not back any cross-party alliances, drawing a firm line against Wike’s initiative.
Davido, who recently paid a visit to Wike in Abuja following the Osun governorship election, responded with characteristic flair. Sharing a video clip of an interview involving Wike and Uzodimma on his Instagram story, the singer simply wrote: “Movie loading.” He accompanied the post with a popcorn emoji, signalling his amusement at the unfolding drama.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), currently serves as FCT Minister in the APC-led administration of President Tinubu. The appointment was widely seen as a reward for Wike’s open support of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, when he broke ranks with his party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
As the political stakes rise ahead of 2027, Davido’s playful reaction has added an unexpected celebrity twist to the intensifying power play between the FCT Minister and the APC governors.
