Popular Fashion Designer DAKOVA's Factory Engulfed By Inferno

DAKOVA (David Kolawole Vaughn) lost his home and factory situated on Brickfield Road, Ebute-Metta to a fire incident on Friday 8th April.

The incident which occurred sometime past 7pm is suspected to have been caused by an electric surge.

According to eye witnesses, the fire started shortly after electricity was restored to the neighbourhood sometime after 7pm leading to the speculation that it may have been caused by a power surge or electrical fault.

The building was completely burnt to the ground as the fire service did not arrive in time to save the building and the one beside it to which the fire had spread. A concerned resident (Gbenga Adigun) who took it upon himself to alert the fire service at Oyingbo reported that they had no operating truck available to fight the fire and had to contact the Ikeja fire station, hence the delay in the arrival of the fire truck.

Residents did try to help put out the fire while waiting for the fire service trucks to show up, however not much could be achieved as properties worth millions of naira were lost to the inferno.

DAKOVA himself was present at the scene while efforts were being made to contain the fire. All his sewing machines and other equipment housed in the building were completely destroyed, but thankfully no life was lost.
