Afrobeats singer Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has accused organisers of bias following his defeat to skit maker Carter Efe in a celebrity boxing match held early Saturday in Lagos.
Portable made the claims during an Instagram live session shortly after the bout, insisting the contest was unfairly judged. According to him, his punches were not properly counted, while his opponent relied on physical advantages rather than technique.
“I was robbed,” the singer said. “Carter Efe was not professional. He kept strangling me because of his long arms and height. I landed several punches, but they didn’t count them. Even hits on the shoulder or hand should count.”
He also demanded payment of his fight earnings, which he claimed amounted to N200 million, warning organisers to settle the sum promptly.
The match, part of the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall, ended in a unanimous decision victory for Carter Efe. All three judges scored the bout 27–30 in favour of the comedian, effectively ending Portable’s run as celebrity boxing champion.
Despite his protests, Portable appeared to downplay the significance of the loss, stating that personal milestones outweighed sporting achievements. He revealed that he had recently welcomed a baby boy, describing fatherhood as more valuable than any championship belt.
“You can buy a belt, but you can’t buy a child,” he said. “My wife just gave birth, and that means more to me.”
Before the fight, Portable had expressed confidence in securing a third consecutive title, citing previous victories over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington. However, Carter Efe countered the bravado with a bold prediction of his own.
Inside the ring, Carter Efe capitalised on his height and reach advantage, delivering cleaner punches and maintaining control throughout the three rounds. His performance secured him the title of celebrity boxing champion.
