An aspirant for the House of Representatives in Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Felix Igbinovia, has commended Monday Okpebholo for the acquisition and distribution of 54 road construction equipment to local government councils across Edo State.

Igbinovia described the initiative as unprecedented, noting that the governor has set a new benchmark in grassroots development by equipping councils with payloaders, tipping trucks and other heavy-duty machinery to intensify road rehabilitation efforts.

In a statement issued in Benin City, the federal lawmaker hopeful said the move demonstrates a clear commitment to decentralising development and empowering local councils to directly tackle infrastructural challenges within their communities.

“The acquisition of 54 construction equipment shows the seriousness Governor Okpebholo attaches to infrastructure development. This intervention will boost road rehabilitation at the grassroots and accelerate economic activities in the state,” he said.

Igbinovia also called on Edo residents to warmly receive the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who is expected in the state for the inauguration and formal distribution of the equipment to the 18 local government councils.

According to him, the deployment of the machinery will stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and enhance commerce and trade across the state.

“With this step, Okpebholo is not just paving roads; he is paving solutions. The impact will be visible in improved roads, faster project delivery and measurable development within a short time,” Igbinovia added.

He further described the intervention as one of the most strategic infrastructure investments by any state government, stressing that strengthening local government capacity remains critical to delivering development where it is most urgently needed.
