Salako Named Campaign Boss as Oshodi/Isolo APC Eyes Mega Flag-Off for Alakija

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State has appointed Hon. Olukayode Ezekiel Salako as Chairman of its Election Campaign and Flag-Off Committee ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appointment, endorsed by the office of the Executive Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof, was formally announced by the APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Saheed Animashaun, during a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday, 9 October 2026.

Salako will now spearhead the party’s campaign coordination in the local government. His brief includes uniting party leaders, ward structures, stakeholders and supporters for campaign activities and official flag-off events.

The new role builds on Salako’s growing footprint within the Lagos APC campaign machinery. In September, he was named a member of the Lagos State APC Governorship Campaign Council, serving in the Contact and Mobilisation Directorate.

A lean campaign core team

Joining Salako on the committee are:

•  Hon. Rafiu Adenopo – Public Relations Officer

•  Hon. Prince Adekunle Adewale Kehinde (Agboni) – Secretary

The three-man core is charged with coordinating campaign programmes, mobilising party members and stakeholders, and overseeing arrangements for campaign flag-offs across Oshodi/Isolo. Additional stakeholders and subcommittee members will be unveiled in due course.

First major assignment: Alakija mega flag-off

The committee’s immediate priority is the organisation of a mega declaration and campaign flag-off for Mayowa Alakija, the APC’s candidate/project for the Lagos State House of Assembly race in Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I.

The planned event is expected to draw APC leaders, political stakeholders, ward executives, supporters and other invited guests as the party intensifies coordinated mobilisation for 2027.

Alakija’s candidacy has already featured prominently in Oshodi/Isolo APC’s internal activities this year. Reports in May indicated that he emerged from the APC primary for Constituency I after defeating incumbent lawmaker Stephen Ogundipe, though subsequent reports highlighted disputes and competing claims over the primary outcome and candidate status.

Political heat rising in Oshodi/Isolo

The latest appointment comes amid heightened political activity in the local government. Party leaders have been engaged in grassroots mobilisation, candidate consultations and constituency programmes throughout 2026, with LGA Chairman Animashaun remaining a visible figure in these efforts.

With Salako now at the helm of the campaign and flag-off committee, focus is expected to shift to the structure, timing and scale of the proposed Alakija launch. The committee will also work to align ward leaders, political groups and other stakeholders so that campaign activities proceed in line with the party’s organisational plans.

The coming weeks are likely to offer a clearer view of how the Oshodi/Isolo APC intends to deploy its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 electoral contests.
