Did Bonang Matheba lie about the real owner of this exquisite G Wagon?
Queen B, as she is affectionately known in showbiz orbit, posted pictures of two Mercedes-Benz cars on her Instagram several weeks ago and claimed they were her luxury toys.
The message accompanying the first picture read: “My baby girls… Getting a rub down!! Thanks @somizi for assisting me. Lol!!# Weekend Ritual#GirlswithAMGs.”
This was after she took the Benzies to a car wash at an unnamed Joburg location.
Matheba repeated the story a few weeks later. She posted the same road monsters, a white G-Wagon and a white CLA 45 AMG, on Instagram and claimed they were both her vehicles.
This was apparently when she was about to return to South Africa from an oversees trip.
“Back to the Republic we go!! Miss my girls… Mama is coming!!,” she wrote.
But Matheba does not own the G-Class SUV – retailing from R1.3-million to R2.5-million, for the top of the range version.
According to official records, seen by Sunday World, Matheba only owns the sedan.
The Metro FM DJ’s credit profile, seen by Sunday World, revealed she only owned the CLA 45 AMG.
According to the document, she bought it for R844000 in February and financed it thorough Mercedes-Benz South Africa.
Her monthly instalment is R16620, with an outstanding balance above R900000.
News that Matheba allegedly pulled the wool over the eyes of the public surfaced this week from an unidentified source.
“Don’t you think you’re a little unfair?” asked the tipster. “You did a whole story about the car and property Cassper Nyovest does not own.
“So, why don’t you report on the Merc GL SUV (sic) Bonang Matheba had Instagramed as her own, which I just confirmed belonged to D’banj.
“The White GL is D’banj’s. He took it back after dumping her for lying and cheating with AKA.”
But Matheba poured cold water on claims that the SUV belonged to D’banj, a popular Nigerian artist .
“How can someone who does not live in South Africa own a car in South Africa? It does not make sense,” she said.
“Can you guys cut me some slack. I’m on holiday in Mauritius and you calling me about this. Tswang mo nna [leave me alone].”
D’banj, once romantically linked to Matheba, could not be reached for comment.
