Senator representing Ogun East and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Segun Awolowo Jnr, grandson of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, Daniel described the news of Awolowo’s death as “devastating,” noting that it represents a painful and monumental loss not only to the Awolowo family but also to Ogun State and the nation.
He said Segun Awolowo Jnr lived a life defined by grace, service, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to nation-building, adding that he consistently upheld the Awolowo legacy with dignity and excellence.
According to the senator, Awolowo’s calm intellect, refined disposition, and patriotic spirit made him a distinguished figure whose absence will be deeply felt by all who had close ties with him.
“It is a very difficult moment for many of us who shared a common bond with Segun, and no amount of words can ease the depth of sorrow,” Daniel said.
The former governor extended prayers to the Awolowo family, asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and to comfort those he left behind.
He affirmed that on behalf of his family and the people of Ogun East Senatorial District, he stands with the bereaved family in prayers during their moment of grief.
Daniel prayed for the soul of Segun Awolowo Jnr to find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.
