Shettima, Akpabio, Governors Applaud Tinubu’s Reforms, Say Policies Boost State Development

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, and state governors have commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his reform agenda, saying it has boosted state revenues and accelerated development across the country.

The leaders made the remarks during events marking Tinubu’s 74th birthday, noting that his administration’s economic policies are steering Nigeria toward recovery and long-term growth.

Shettima described the President’s birthday as a celebration of service, resilience, and commitment to national development, adding that working with Tinubu has been “a masterclass in decisive governance and principled leadership.”

“Your capacity to balance empathy with firmness, vision with pragmatism continues to inspire those of us privileged to serve with you,” the Vice President said.

He noted that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is gradually repositioning Nigeria for sustainable prosperity, citing improvements in key economic indicators, including GDP growth, declining inflation trends, and increased foreign direct investment.

Shettima also highlighted ongoing infrastructure investments, describing them as critical to long-term economic expansion.

“Your resolute focus on infrastructure development is creating the arteries of commerce that will power Nigeria’s prosperity for generations to come,” he added, while praising the President’s courage in implementing difficult but necessary reforms.

Senate President Akpabio emphasised the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, noting that the administration inherited a fragile economy but is making steady progress.

According to him, Tinubu’s reforms have strengthened fiscal federalism, enabling states to access increased funding for development.

“States are getting more funds now for development, and many are no longer borrowing. They are excited that true federalism is being upheld,” Akpabio said.

Speaker Tajudeen described the President’s leadership as timely and impactful, expressing optimism about the country’s direction under his administration.

“It is indeed a day of joy for all of us… With the accomplishments he has been bringing to this country, we pray that the best of him is yet to come,” he said.

Governors, under the leadership of Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, credited Tinubu’s policies with driving transformation at the subnational level.

“The courage of Mr President is unprecedented. We see light at the end of the tunnel. The economy is turning around because of investment in infrastructure,” AbdulRazaq stated.

They urged Nigerians to assess the impact of reforms beyond the federal level, pointing to noticeable development strides across states driven by increased revenue allocation.

The governors also noted that investments in agriculture are beginning to ease food prices, while commending Tinubu’s decision to donate his salary to support victims within the armed forces, describing it as an act of compassionate leadership.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma added that the administration’s bold reforms are already repositioning the economy.

“Our country has gradually changed for the better,” he said.
