Dr. (Mrs) Chinyere Asika, the wife of the late Administrator of East Central State, Ajie Ukpabi Asika is dead.
Family sources revealed that the late recipient of the National Honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) and mother of Obi Asika, entertainment entrepreneur and President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Social Media, Obi Asika died yesterday, Monday, April 4, 2015.
Though the source of death is yet unknown, her passing will be very devastating to her immediate family, especially her three children who marked the 10th anniversary of their father’s death last year (September 2014).
Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Edith Ukpabi Asika (nee Ejiogu) was the Senior Special Assistant to Presidential Olusegun Obasanjo on New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) and has been a Non-Executive Director of Zenith Bank since October 9, 2012.
She graduated from Mills College Oakland in 1964 with B.A. in Government with minor in Social Anthropology and obtained a Masters Degree (Library Science & Information Technology) in 1965 from the University of California. She has worked as an Assistant Librarian, University of Ibadan between 1965 and 1967.
