President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful and secure Nigeria where citizens can worship freely and pursue their aspirations without fear.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, the President said his government would continue investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to strengthen national growth and stability.
Tinubu expressed optimism that the economic reforms introduced by his administration were beginning to yield positive results, including improved economic stability and growing investor confidence.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the government over the past three years were gradually producing the desired outcomes.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President declared, while assuring Nigerians of a more peaceful and prosperous future.
He noted that despite the challenges facing the country, particularly insecurity caused by terrorists and bandits, the government remained determined to defeat criminal elements threatening national peace.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu stated.
The President urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration as a period of prayer for the nation, peace within communities and wisdom for leaders at all levels.
He also encouraged Nigerians to show compassion by supporting the less privileged and promoting unity irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.
Tinubu described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival that symbolises faith, obedience and sacrifice, values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. He added that the occasion should inspire citizens to embrace selflessness, compassion and national unity.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on Nigerians to reflect deeply on the importance of sacrifice and devotion during the festive season.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio congratulated Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettimaand Muslim faithful across Nigeria and in the Diaspora on the Eid celebration.
He said the lessons of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and unwavering faith were virtues Nigeria needed at a critical time in its national journey.
Akpabio urged citizens to continue demonstrating compassion, generosity and love to neighbours regardless of religious affiliation.
Also, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen appealed to Muslims to renew their faith in God and in Nigeria during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a message signed by his media aide, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Abbas urged Nigerians to extend charity to the poor, needy and less privileged, describing such acts as fundamental teachings of Islam.
The Speaker further encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to peace, unity and political stability as the country approaches future electoral activities, while calling for prayers for the nation and its leaders.
