Tinubu Hails Olusola Oke at 70, Celebrates Legal Icon’s Lasting Political Legacy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated prominent politician and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olusola Oke, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished figure whose influence has shaped both law and politics in Ondo State and across the country.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President joined family members, friends, colleagues, and political associates in celebrating the milestone.

Tinubu praised Oke for successfully blending a flourishing legal career with active political involvement, earning widespread respect in both spheres. He noted that Oke’s reputation as a highly regarded lawyer provided a strong foundation for his political journey and commitment to public service.

Reflecting on his political career, the President recalled Oke’s election to the House of Representatives in 1992, where he represented the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency. He also highlighted Oke’s appointment to the pioneer board of the Niger Delta Development Commission in 2000.

Tinubu further acknowledged Oke’s role on the national stage, including his tenure as National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party from 2008 to 2012, before his eventual move to the All Progressives Congress, where he remains an influential stakeholder.

Oke also played a key role in the 2023 presidential election as Deputy Director of Legal Affairs for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation.

Despite unsuccessful attempts to become governor of Ondo State, Tinubu commended Oke’s unwavering commitment to public service, including his tenure as Executive Chairman of the Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) in 2004.

The President concluded by praying for continued good health, strength, and wisdom for the elder statesman as he continues to contribute to national development.
